What is the vaccine that some native born Mexicans have on their shoulder?
Mexican people always have this vaccine on their should or on their arm and it’s like a scar. I never had courage to ask, but it’s easy to identify. My mother has it on her right shoulder.
The reason I say Mexican’s it’s because I’ve only seen Mexican people with it.
I am also confused because my mother said it was for tuberculosis and others say it’s for chicken pox.
What is the cause of the scarring?

Well, not just mexicans have it. Its actually a Small Pox vaccine. They stopped giving it in like 1975 or something b/c small pox just went away.
The vaccine is made up of a weakened version of Cow Pox, a closely realted virus. When you got the vaccine it would have your body make antibodies and Memory B cells so it would be ready to fight Small Pox if it ever entered your system. Hope this Helps!!!!!

to prevent Tuberculosis.

It isn’t just Mexicans but all people over a certain age.
It is the scar from the smallpox vaccine – which has not be given since the 1970s.
