What happens to a pyruvic acid during fermentation?
after glycolysis oxegen may or may not be present, If there is not enough oxegen present fermentation occurs. So my question is what happens to the pyruvic acid during fermentation? thanks for any help

It depends on the kind of fermentation.
In alcoholic fermentation, it is converted to ethanol and CO2; yeasts, along with several other organisms do this.
In lactic acid fermentation, it is converted to lactic acid; this reaction occurs in mammalian muscle tissue, and is reversible.
