Is the swine flu vaccine made like other flu vaccines that are made in eggs?

In the 1976 swine flu scare, more people died from Guillain-Barré Syndrome which they developed as a result of the vaccine, than died from the disease itself.

What are the potential risks involved with the Swine Flu vaccine 33 years later? I assume those in charge of developing the vaccine are trying very hard to avoid a repeat of the past disastrous mistakes.

I do notice that the media are very quiet about the vaccine related deaths of ‘76. I guess they want to avoid panic.

I just read something about how the WHO (World Health Organization) has issued an alert that the swine flu vaccine be made mandatory. Is this true? Is the government really going to be forced into forcing people to take this vaccine?

Last week, I had a cold or something, no fever. I had an appointment for a swine flu vaccine on Friday, and by then I was feeling mostly better so I went and took it. I did not get the shot, I got the nasal spray. Now, 5 days later, I have a slightly sore throat, cough that is getting worse, I am achy, tired, and I have a fever of 100.1. Is it possible I caught the swine flu from the vaccine?

I got the Swine Flu Vaccine about a month ago. But I was wondering if it makes you completely immune to it, or if you can still get it but it have a less harsh effect. Does Anyone know?

Are there any known side effects of getting both the "regular" flu shot in addition to the swine flu vaccine? Or can you only get one or the other?

I’ve searched the internet quite a lot and found that there is a very large number of people who believe that the swine flu vaccine is deadly poison or some such that the government is going to force inject the masses with. Why is this? It’s the strangest conspiracy theory I’ve seen in a long while.

My son is ellergic to eggs. Can he be given the swine flu vaccine?

And you’ve probably guessed, it’s about the swine flu vaccine, once it becomes available who will be eligible to get it first?

Wouldn’t the former provide some protection against the latter?

I’m not crazy about the idea of injecting myself with pig and bird DNA.

One of the thing that I’m worried about, is that we don’t have any longitudinal studies on these (indeed, the JAMA study was conducted over a week?!?) so we have no idea about long term safety (Swine flu 1976 anyone?) and I’m not crazy about the idea of adjuvants in vaccines.

Now don’t get me wrong – I am a fan of vaccines. There are millions of people on the planet because of them. They have reduced pain and suffering and improved quality of life – so I’m for them, and plan on possibly getting one for the "regular flu" – but I figured someone had to have some ideas about the swine flu vaccine…

Let me know whatcha think – I plan on dwellin’ on it some.
