Is there a chance the swine flu vaccine will be dangerous?

In the 1976 swine flu scare, more people died from Guillain-Barré Syndrome which they developed as a result of the vaccine, than died from the disease itself.

What are the potential risks involved with the Swine Flu vaccine 33 years later? I assume those in charge of developing the vaccine are trying very hard to avoid a repeat of the past disastrous mistakes.

I do notice that the media are very quiet about the vaccine related deaths of ’76. I guess they want to avoid panic.

Are you getting a flu vaccination this season?

i’m not because of: mercury content, microchips, and the fact that vaccinated people can still get sick. and after all is said and done i’ll be immune anyway. Seriously ask yourself how can the virus mutate every frikin year? HIV has been around since the 50′s and it’s only mutated once. Either Influenza virus DOESN’T mutate that often and they want us to think it does, OR they’re engineering different viral DNA every year and releasing it into the population. We should have the same Flu virus that we had last year..and if it DOES mutate that often then 1 vaccine wouldn’t defend anyone against the multitude of viral DNA variations….think about it….and if there are so many mutations how do they always get the right vaccine designed for that specific mutation?

do you think i will get the gillian barre syndrome if I get the H1N1 vaccine?

I want to go get the vaccine today, so I have it before going out of town for thanksgiving. Do you think I will get the GBS? IF I did get it, do you think it would go away or be permenant? Is it better to get the vaccine instead of taking the chance at getting the swine flu?

Should you get the H1N1 Vaccine if you have alpha beta thalassemia minor?

If your child has alpha beta thalassemia minor should you get them the H1N1 vaccine? Would actually getting swine flu be worse than the possible side effects of the vaccine? I have heard of children dying from the swine flu but I think most of them had other health problems, which is why I ask these questions. Because my kids have alpha beta thalassemia minor what is worse the flu or the vaccine. I would rather not vaccinate them but I need to be sure they are not at risk.

What do you think of this plot for a novel? Would you read it?

“Being Blonde”
Ashley is a scientist and she on the verge of discovering the secret to immortality. When the world is coming to an end with various flu viruses spreading around, the scientists are working on a cure for the flu’s which are spreading. It turns out that what she discovered will change the fate of humanity so she tries to tell her theory to other scientists, but they keep blowing her off because she’s blonde and young. With the help of her friend, she tries to alert the world of what is to come, but no one listens to her. Meanwhile, there is this other scientist, a very successful male one at that, named Malcolm. Malcolm is the same age as Ashley, is brunette and is extremely smart. Even though they both have the same IQ level, the scientists hand over the responsibilities of the life-saving vaccines to Malcolm. Ashley is crushed by this, but is determined to hand over the DNA of immortality over to Malcolm. He won’t accept it at first, being he doesn’t take her seriously as she is always perky and makes jokes out of almost everything, and her Dad is the CEO of the company who gave her the job. Ashley tries to prove them wrong by showing them how the immortality drug affects rats, but when she gives it to the rat it dies on the table. She is able to figure out in her head why the rat died, and says that it will work on humans. The scientists laugh it off and demote her to assistant, even though people are still dying of this flu. Malcolm tells Ashley that it’s nothing personal and gives her advice on how to get her position back; he admits being jealous of Ashley and they form a friendship. Ashley takes Malcolm to a sorority party and both of them stumble into work the next day drunk, and after both of them receive a warning notice, Ashley knocks over the immortality drug mistakenly. Malcolm picks it up from the floor and it seeps into his hands, making him very sick because of the bacteria on the floor mixing with it the wrong way, being the drug has to be clean. Ashley kisses Malcolm on what seems to be his death bed, but he is revived after an emergency surgery to get the drug out of his system. Replacing Malcolm, a brunette girl named Jennifer is put into action, and she immediately takes a disliking to Ashley after Ashley admits to her she’s in love with Malcolm, who just so happens to be Jennifer’s ex-fiance. Jennifer steals the immortality drug and shows it to the scientists, and they believe her. During a press conference she is unable to explain the drug so Ashley, realizing no one will ever take her seriously, is able to help her out by saying what Jennifer apparently ‘meant’ to say. Jennifer later hands over the formula to Ashley and Ashley gets millions of dollars for it, a managing spot back at the company, and apology from the scientist and Malcolm’s heart. She buys the company from her Father for five million dollars and fires the people main scientists who doubted her. The End.
1.) Would this be a novel you would read? Why?
2.) What do you think the moral is, if their is one?
3.) Any suggestions? What point of view should it be in, do you like the names, do you think any other characters are necessary, should Ashley be girly, etc.?
4.) What do you think of this plot for a novel? Would you read it?
Long answers appreciated. I will give 10 points for the best answer and I will not let it go to voting. Thank you!

To the third person – You don’t know what it’s like to be blonde; everyone thinks you’re a stupid bimbo.

Where can I get the H1N1 vaccine in New York City?

I’ve called lots of pharmacies and done many searches on the internet, including flu.gov and nyc.gov. However, I have been unable to find where I can get the H1N1 vaccine.

I have already had the traditional flue vaccine this year.

Is it going to be mandatory that everyone be given the Swine Flu vaccine?

I just read something about how the WHO (World Health Organization) has issued an alert that the swine flu vaccine be made mandatory. Is this true? Is the government really going to be forced into forcing people to take this vaccine?

If my kids have never gotten a regular flu shot, should I worry about getting them the H1N1 vaccine?

They’re 5 and 7 and I’ve never had them get the flu shot, but they are up to date on all their other shots.
So, is it necessary to get them the H1N1 vaccine? If I did decide to, would that have any negative effects, since their body’s not had a flu shot before?
Thanks.

Is it possible to catch swine flu from the nasal spray vaccine?

Last week, I had a cold or something, no fever. I had an appointment for a swine flu vaccine on Friday, and by then I was feeling mostly better so I went and took it. I did not get the shot, I got the nasal spray. Now, 5 days later, I have a slightly sore throat, cough that is getting worse, I am achy, tired, and I have a fever of 100.1. Is it possible I caught the swine flu from the vaccine?
