How would you identify bacteria containing recombinant plasmids?

1) Expose the bacteria to an antibiotic that kills cells which dont have the plasmid
2) Use an electron microscope
3) Take out the DNA from al lthe cells to see which ones have the plasmids
4) Make antibodies for each bacterium that has a recombinent plasmid.

I need help with AP Bio questions on DNA?

I can’t find the answers to these questions! And some I am unsure of…

1. Most molecules with regular structure produce specific _________ diffraction pictures.
I guessed and put "x-ray". Is it right?

2. When nucleotides are linked together in DNA, the __________ group attached to the 5′ carbon of one sugar attaches to the 3′ carbon of an adjacent sugar.
Is it phosphate? Or what?

3. Recombinant DNA may make it possible to produce ________ protein in _______ cells.

4. T or F: All members of the same species of organism contain DNA with almost exactly the same chemical composition.

5. Restriction enzymes attack double stranded DNA:
A) only at the 3′ end
B) only at the 5′ end
C) at a point in the middle of a particular nucleotide sequence
D) only between cytosine and guanine containing nucleotides

Thanks for the help. I’ve tried searching around and reading through my notes and handouts, but I can’t find the answers.

Which correctly describes how life begun in earth's primative atmosphere? Help!!!?

Need someone really knows Biology!

Choose best answer.

Which statement correctly describes how life might have begun in the shallow seas under Earth’s primative atmosphere?

(a)In the Archean eon, when there was an absence of free oxygen, prokaryotic cells developed in the shallow seas. These cells got energy through fermentation and had self-replicating RNA and other organic molecules.
(b)Eurkaryotic cells were the first to develop in the shallow seas using fermentation to get energy. They were little more than memebrane bound, self replicationg RNA.
(c) Eubacteria cells were the first to develop in the shallow seas using photosynthesis to get their envergy. They were little mor ethan membrane bound, self-replicating DNA and other organic molecules.
(d) In the Precambrain eon, when there was an absence of free oxygen, stromatolite cells developed in the shallow seas. They got their energy from photosynthesis and had self-replicating DNA and other organic molecules.

What is the best way to conserve my soul?

I firmly believe that our soul is in our feces. I think each time we poop, we lose part of our life force, ATP, or soul. I would like to preserve my energy. Upon isolation of my feces, I think salting followed by a deep freeze would be the optimal preservation method. Do you think the ion concentration from the salt and extreme temperature change will damage the DNA? I know from my graduate work, that if you freeze cells too quickly the water in the cells can burst the outer membranes. Do you think salting then a slow freeze would be best? What would be the best salt to use? I was thinking a mixture of Ca(OH)2, NaCl and KI salts. Thank you.
