So, for my science project, I need to brainstorm ideas for a metaphor that represents an animal cell. For an example, "An animal cell is like a city" would be:

Cell Membrane: Customs / Border Patrol
DNA and Nucleus: Command Central
Ribosomes & ER: Manufacturing
Golgi Apparatus: Export / Shipping
Mitochondria: Power Plant
Lysosomes: Trash / Recycling
Cytoskeleton: Highway / Roads

But that was an example my teacher gave us. I need to think of one myself, and I came up with a corporation.

So far, I came up with the following:

Mitochondria – Purchasing and Supply Department
Lysosomes – Human Resources

However, I am stumped on the cytoskeleton.

Any ideas on what I can use? And feedback/suggestions would be appreciated on the current list.

I have been with my gf since 5/06&have not had outside sexual contact with anyone&prior to her,my last partner was 2/06. Before that, 10/03. In 11/07,I noticed a bump on the opening of my urethra, initially dismissing it.I then noticed other bumps on the penis, but also thought they were perhaps just skin tags/hair follicles.In 1/08,I started to get worried that this was not healing and went to see a urologist,who said it was very likely a case of HPV/genital warts.2 weeks ago,I had the bumps removed and sent for biopsy,confirming the diagnosis. My gf then went to her gynecologist. Her last pap was 9/07&"normal." She had the more accurate HPV DNA test performed last week, and yesterday received a call saying it was negative.We have had sex since 11/07 when this started,so I don’t understand how she’s negative,without having received the vaccine.Now I’m being accused of cheating and this is all is VERY hurtful.Someone help me understand this virus,I don’t even get how I was infected
Believe me I’m thrilled for her, and she is going to get the vaccine. I really hope she can get over this, to be accused like this and know you’re innocent and unable to prove it is one of the worst feelings I have ever had to experience. How I got it, honestly, remains a mystery to me and is bothering me to a great degree – I guess I could have had this since as far back as 2003 and not realized it.

I have a Neapolitan Mastiff/Lab mix. She is epileptic and put on meds, the meds made it worse, the dr did a dna test and just said it was due to her breed. however, i heard that it could be due to vaccines so i stopped them and her seizure have become all but non-existent, however, when she has a "bad day" they’re non-stop until the next day, and than they vanish for months at a time, & than another bad spell of them. any idea as to what to do? i have a 6 mth old son, and i don’t want him to ask "what’s wrong with my puppy" when he’s old enough to understand. && its really hard for me and my boyfriend to watch, but i got her at a wk old, her eyes weren’t even open, the people i got her from were HORRIBLE!! i bottle fed her, she was POLLUTED with fleas, it was awful. i paid them, i wanted her so bad, just to give her a chance. she’s like my daughter, i would lay my life on the line for her, as she would me. i’ve been through a divorce and she was there, i was left by my boyfriend when i was 20wks pregnant and she was there. we’ve been through ALOT together, so "putting her down" or "getting rid of her" is almost not even an option!! so the negative remarks and smart assed advice isn’t needed or wanted. Any ideas as to WHY she would be seizing, WHAT i can do, or WHO i can get to help her?? thank you so much in advance!!! x.o.x.o

If gene therapy were to become a common medical practice..?
Okay so I understand the concept now that gene therapy will alter a person’s DNA (hopefully in a good way!) but by altering the DNA, what effects would this have on society.

For example, lets say someone commits a crime today, and later down the road recieve gene therapy, & then after this therapy they are considered a supspect for said crime, would DNA samples from the crime scene still match this persons "new" DNA. How would gene therapy affect scenerios like this

In biology class tomorrow we are having a debate on weather or not gene therapy should be allowed. I am FOR gene therapy…I didn’t chose to be for gene therapy we picked out of a hat.

Hello! I have a newbie/novice question about the operation of my new Glock G18c replica pistol. (Its not really a Glock g18c, but is a clone and shoots BBs, the Slide doesnt have the Glock markings, but it is meant to function the same as aforementioned pistol. It is about the safety switch. Here goes:

On my "Glock G18c" (actually customized upgraded KWA G18c,) the Safety is -engaged- (as in the trigger won’t fire the firing pin, or it puts the block in the way, so the ’safety’ is ON) when the switch is at a 45-degree angle to the slide? (On a Beretta, you would also see the red dot to signal that the safety is ON in this position, right?) – And the safety is -disengaged- when the safety switch is level with the slide, both horizontal, yes?

Im asking because I refuse to dry-fire my gun. My dad had a .357 magnum (the one that has the wood handle, not Combat magnum) with 6" barrel and it was a sweet pistol, and he let me hold it but said "Dry-firing it is the worst thing you can do, I never dry-fired mine, so just hold it." Same with my KWA (custom) G18c.

It also appears to be oiled nice, I didnt even move the slide back yet due to no BBs to load concerns, and I was wondering how often I should ‘oil’ it. I probably will seldom shoot it.

PS: Naturally, the Smith & Wesson was a 6-shot revolver, and a .357 magnum at that, so no Im not calling that a semi-auto, no way lol, I just included that as a reference. .357 has to be one of the best rounds you can buy in terms of power and defense, and is also very very powerful for a handgun, right? I have a BB Gun, so i just thought I would give that 6" barrel .357 magnum revolver its credit. I used to know the model of it, it had the black barrel and wood handle, it wasnt the combat magnum. Oh well. Just to clarify, thanks.
