N1H1 or traditional flu vaccine/ we will also be traveling internationally in a few wks?
I am planning to have our family get the flu shots in the next couple of weeks, but because we will be traveling internationally (Mexico) to spend Christmas with them this year, I would like to know which would be better, the N1H1 vaccine or the flu shot? Will they work the same? Does it really matter? Children are 11 and 8 and my husband and I are 40.
Thanks so much.

You should get both. The H1N1 shot only protects you against that strain of flu. The general flu shot protects you against the strains of flu that will most likely be active this year.
I got the flu shot last year and didn’t get sick all winter, so I’ll be getting one again this year.

If you were born before the last swine flu epidemic in 1976, you probably have some immunity. Not many older people are getting sick, even after their kids all get sick. After all the numbers are in, we will know just how important that old immunity is. Although it wears off over time, immunological memory persists to varying degrees.

DO you have to get the N1H1 each year or is it for good or until it mutates?

i would take the H1N1, but they are the same, you shouldnt really worry about it that much because the likeliness of you getting it is pretty low, its just the media is taking to much coverage, but to be on the safe side i would take the H1N1
Have Fun.
