What are some differences between DNA and RNA?

Just wondering what some differences between DNA and RNA are? What are the relative lengths of a DNA and RNA strand?

Also, why is RNA referred to also as mRNA?

What is the template/antisense strand of DNA, and the coding/sense strand?

Thanks!

10. Which one of the following statements about using reverse genetic techniques to produce disease models
in knockout mice is INCORRECT?
(A) The sequence of the gene must be known before the gene can be knocked out.
(B) The targeting vector contains a disrupted copy of the gene where all or part of that gene has been
replaced by a selectable marker.
(C) The targeting vector is transformed into embryonic stem (ES) cells, where it will recombine with the
ES cell DNA.
(D) The knockout mice are missing one good copy of the gene in all cells.

How does a restriction enzyme know where and what to cut in DNA?

I am studying how DNA probes can detect harmful alleles. The book I am reading describes that an allele for something like cystic fibrosis can be detected in a heterozygous individual by its restriction site. I understand the concept, I am just curious how an enzyme can cut and paste an allele, and how it knows which one to focus on?

DNA spliced into plasmid vector?

Foreign DNA is spliced into a plasmid vector. The recombined plasmid then carries the foreign DNA into the bacterial cell, where it replicates independently of the bacterial chromosome. is it True or False?
If the foreign DNA contained a gene for human growth hormone, each cell will make the hormone.

How long does it take the DNA of a dead cell to deteriorate into an unrecognizable state?

For example if a person died, how long post-mortem could a lab identify their DNA, and what would be the best cells to tell what the person looked like and their biological construction? I’m doing some science fiction writing and I’m hoping someone could help me with this research.
