DNA Fermentation Process
HyperGRO™: Licensing
|
|
|
|
HyperGRO™ Licensing:
The literature reports plasmid DNA yields in the range of 100-250mg/L for batch and fed-batch fermentations, respectively, vs. 1-20mg/L for shake flask cultures. NTC’s HyperGRO™ technology represents a quantum breakthrough in process efficiency, with typical fed-batch fermentation yields in the 300-2,000mg/L range, and beyond. The patented HyperGRO™ process uses a special animal product free media formulation together with a growth-restricted, temperature-inducible plasmid production phase.
The order-of-magnitude increases in yield translate to dramatic savings and increased purity. HyperGRO™ licensing allows you to move the process into your own facility in order to take full advantage of the cost savings quality. NTC offers both GMP facility licenses (for contract manufacturing) as well as full commercial licenses for in-house production of DNA vaccines and gene therapeutics, as well as other plasmid products.
Pre-license Testing:
Try before you buy. NTC will ferment your plasmid using the HyperGRO™ process in order to determine the actual yield. Cost of proof-of-concept runs is $3,200 each, which includes up to 1g of DNA in the form of cell paste (additional grams for $1,000 each, if available from a 10L fermentor). In this way, you are assured of the actual results with your plasmid before you obtain a license.
Technical Services:
Up to two days of engineer time and one day of regulatory affairs personnel time will be dedicated to the tech transfer, with additional engineering and scientific assistance available. Process development runs at NTC allow rapid yield improvements at low cost.
HyperGRO™ kits:
4L fed-batch fermentation kits are available from NTC for $399 each. Complete instructions, kit license for research use, and tech services by phone are included with the kit.
